Every Wednesday we get a new picture prompt for the Friday Fictioneers, a writing challenge graciously hosted by our Fairy Blog Mother Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.
The task of the challenge is to write a story: beginning, middle, and end, in 100 words or less. You can find all the Fictioneers’ stories when you click on the little frog. Please read, comment, and if you like, join the fun. Everyone is welcome.
For 150 years I stood here. I’m a symbol of progress, of welcome for immigrants, and of freedom for the world. My crown stands for the seven seas and the seven continents.
How can there be freedom and progress when the talents of so many are smothered because of their gender, their ethnicity, their skin colour, or their social status?
Haven’t you learned anything, people?
Apparently not. I look down at my toes and see the water rising. Try fixing that with your hatred.
It needs the passion of all of us to solve this.
Nothing more to add…
