The Best Birthday Present Ever

“Is this it? It’s beautiful.”

“I thought you might like it. We’re agreed then? We acquire it Sunday night?”

“Yes. Should be easy.”

“Don’t be overconfident. These people aren’t complete fools–and pull your hat down, your ears are showing.”

“Sorry. I’ll be careful.”

“Good. After that you deliver it to my barn.”

“And then?”

“We clean it. Polish it.”

“I see. Deactivate the stinking drive and put some elevation magic on it.”

“Exactly.”

“Mab will be so pleased.”

“It’ll be her best birthday gift, ever.”

“We’ll be her favourites.”

“For a while. But first we must steal the thing.”

  1. When you mentioned ears, I thought of the original Star Trek and the times Spock had to hide his ears. I thought maybe he and Jim had time travelled again. But, fairies work just as good, lol.

    1. Hahah. Another fellow Trekkie. I admit that I thought about Spock when I wrote this. I’ve been thinking about the movie with the whales, The Voyage Home. Thank you!

        1. I don’t get these channels but over the years I got quite a collection of dvds, saved tv shows etc. Not too long ago I watched the original series and that time travel episode is a gem.

  2. A magic-powered Harley! Cool 🙂
Like Lorraine, I also initially thought of Mr Spock with the “cover your ears” thing! But it’s certainly applicable to the faery population too.

  3. Dear Gabi,

A magical, mystical tale. I liked “pull your hat down over your ears” to hint they aren’t human. It made me think of Spock on Star Trek the times they traveled to Earth in earlier centuries. Nicely done.
