Little Wood-Man – Crimson’s Creative Challenge

This is my response to Crimson’s Creative Challenge #151

The CCC challenge is open for everyone and asks for creative responses like flash-fic stories, poems, pictures, captions, and, and, and… check it out!

Little Wood-Man

I come here almost every evening. Weather, temperature, season—none of that matters. The atmosphere, the light and the sounds of the forest relax me like nothing else can after my stress-filled days.

Last week someone put a little roughly hewn statue close to ‘my’ stump. Very cute. I smile at the wood-man each time I pass him.

Today I notice something. He is still in the same place, but his arms have moved.

I get closer to examine the mechanism when he puffs out a long breath.

Wait. What? I jump back.

The statue smiles.

“Only someone from your world who can see me can help my world survive.”

That’s it. The stress finally got me. I’ve lost my mind. I gape at the little wood-man. He now has a well-defined face and looks anxious.

“Will you help? Will you come?”

I nod. What do I have to lose?

  1. Tell Little Wood-man to sit tight. I’ll be by now that I know he is at your house. 😀 Just dropping by to see what you are up to. Well wishes to you from an occasional visitor. Have a great Sunday.
