This is my response to Crimson’s Creative Challenge #152b
The CCC challenge is open for everyone and asks for creative responses like flash-fic stories, poems, pictures, captions, and, and, and… check it out!
I really like their forests. The light is dimmed, the atmosphere serene. Just like my home. I’m in-between, neither here nor there, neither elf nor human.
I will not choose between the endless wars of elf queens against goblin kings and the wars of those who take everything against those who have nothing. I will not choose between sacrificing the poor and innocent to magical gods and monsters and sacrificing the poor and innocent to myths and monsters of mammon and power. I will remain in-between, in shadows, unseen.
I am alone, lonely, all by myself. It weighs on the soul. I wish I had friends.
I have seen young ones who want change, who could be friends. A miracle!
But they are too few, too young, too idealistic. They’re dreamers, here and there, all around and so, so peaceful. Just like their forests.
Maybe I could bring them together.
