The Throne

I love Nana’s huge, wild garden.

“It’s enchanted,” Nana says. “Better be careful and don’t anger the elf queen.”

I’m always very careful to only tread on the path and never damage anything… and I’m not going near the huge wooden thing on the lawn that’s been there forever and never changes.

“This is the throne of the elf queen,” I tell Mum. “Nana says we mustn’t sit on it.”

Mum nods and her eyes are twinkling.

“That’s  bu?=&%it. I’ve a good mind to pummel the lies out of that kid.”

My stepdad doesn’t like me talking abut elves. He sits down on the throne and yells at Mum to fetch him some beer.

Instead of the beer the police arrive and arrest him for dealing cocoa. I didn’t known selling cocoa is a crime.

I think I will thank the elf queen now. And never, ever, touch that throne.

  1. Something tells me Mum doesn’t mind that her husband has been arrested and taken away… Now the three generations can enjoy their magical garden in peace with no naysayers! Love this, Gabi.

    1. Of course it was intentional. I was wondering what crime he should have committed and found murder too gruesome. 😀 It’s a kid… does she really have to know about cocaine?
