Sit Up Straight!

Sit up straight, mum always said. I feel her presence as I slouch past what once was our house, shuffle into the restaurant where I once worked, grab a can from the stash and sit down.

Review March, Plans for April 2022

I don’t really have many writing plans for April, but I’d like to keep up the Fridays Fictioneers challenges and maybe Crispina’s CCC… but I’m not certain.

That said, I so admire the brave resistance of the Ukrainian people and wish we all would do more to help them but at the same time being worried about a nuclear war–which probably is exactly what Putin wants us to be. Nevertheless, having more sense and compassion than that lying and murdering despot cowardly hiding in luxury in a palace while his people go hungry and have their brains washed by Kremlin propaganda, can’t be a bad thing.

I’ve tried to think about my fantasy WIP, but since it requires battles and involves murderous despots attacking neighbouring countries, I gave it up for now. It’s just too close to reality and feels frivolous. My muse attacked me with a new Science Fiction idea, but it’s probably again turning out to be too complex for me. Thinking about it is fun though, so that’s what I do.

Apart from that, I read old favourites and rediscovered the pleasure of being completely immersed in a book. I had lost that for years, being so busy with other stuff and surfing around online far too much. I’ve cut down on that, hardly go to Twitter any longer, since that only makes me angry, and also haven’t visited other blogs, which makes me feel guilty. Visiting other blogs is part of my modest plans for April.

Rage

“Loser,” Max said and snapped his fingers. Lenny’s chucks flew out the window and wretchedly hung from the sign bracket like a banner of shame.
